DEVELOPER COMMISSIONED ARTISTS TO DEFINE THE COVE AT CELO MOUNTAIN

You know by now, if you have read our blog, that we are passionate about our area of Western North Carolina, our acclaimed artists, and the plethora of outdoor sports and activities available to us in these breathtaking mountains. I thought you might appreciate reading something a little less biased that someone else has written about the pristine Cove at Celo Mountain. So, here it is from:
SOUTHEAST DISCOVERY: THE SOUTHERN WAY OF LIFE

Bill Ennen, award-winning builder and developer of The Cove at Celo Mountain recognizes that one of the great resources in Western North Carolina is artistic talent. Now on display at The Cove at Celo Mountain are two masterpieces; the entry gate – a Lucius Annaeus Seneca design of layered mountains made from burnished copper, black iron and stainless steel and a commissioned, one-of-a-kind painted Quilt Block, part of Quilt Trails of Western North Carolina on display in Greeter’s Park at The Cove at Celo Mountain.

People are drawn to Western North Carolina seeking a small town atmosphere and friendly places to socialize. We crave a sense of community, the way we were brought up when we were kids years ago. People want to spend more time outdoors walking with their spouse, their kids, and playing with their grandchildren. We crave simple things - a place to catch a trout, toss stones in a creek and warm our hands around an outdoor fire.

When you reach The Cove at Celo Mountain, you can feel its charm and heartbeat built inside Pisgah National Forest. You can’t help applauding the artistic entry gates as you pass through them each time. You are immediately drawn to Greeter’s Park and the open lawn inviting you to play catch with your dog. You see the framed aqua and green painted Quilt Block, as if hanging on a living room wall, which intrigues you wondering about the story behind its design. The Greeter’s Park outdoor living room setting has a large stone fireplace, outdoor timber furniture and a separate fire pit encouraging you to sit down and roast marshmallows. Do you know that each painted Quilt Block on the Quilt Block Trail is a one-of-kind design?

The Cove at Celo Mountain recently became the sole corporate sponsor of Quilt Trails of Western North Carolina gifting $50K, a generous gift by developer Bill Ennen, to preserve its beauty and education in Western North Carolina. Quilt making is a time- honored Appalachian tradition now transformed into painted art, more than 140 Quilt Blocks displayed on barns, businesses and in public places. The project started when Ohio resident Donna Sue Groves put a paint block on her barn to honor her mom, and this honor has been contagious ever since.

Builders commonly spend money decorating the interiors of completed homes turning them into models. Bill Ennen of The Cove at Celo Mountain has decorated the outdoors of the community inviting residents outside to bond with nature and touch their five senses. We are seeing a strong trend of outdoor living rooms of which The Cove at Celo Mountain has four.

Soon, two of the three cabins now under construction, part of The Cabins at Celo Collection, will be ready for purchase and move-in. If living outdoors is as important to you as your indoors, The Cove at Celo Mountain is worth taking a look. If you would like to know more, obtain a current price list and floor plans, email us at info@southeastdiscovery.com or call us at 877.886.8388.

FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL

FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN BLACKSMITH FESTIVAL

Locust Street in Downtown Spruce Pine, NC

APRIL 24, 2010 10AM - 4PM

The Appalachian mountains of Western North Carolina have produced world-famous master blacksmiths. In just one local family - by the name of Boone - the craft of blacksmithing has been passed down through 18 generations. This is the lineage of the legendary Daniel Boone, who was also a blacksmith. Come enjoy this heritage craft at our annual Fire on the Mountain festival!

*Try your own skills at forging in the "Hands-On" tent
*Enjoy live demonstrations from some of our leading blacksmiths
*Shop for unique, original pieces for gifts or for your own collection

There will be food vendors, live music, visiting blacksmiths from around the region/country, and special activities for the kids. Then take a break from the activities to try your hand at fly-fishing in the ancient South Toe River that flows through the town (Rivers Edge Outfitters in town will lend or rent you the poles), or just relax with the great food and live music and watch the heritage trains that pass through lower street.

Make the beautiful 15-minute drive over to The Cove at Celo Mountain and see our locally art-commissioned, hand-forged entrance gate. It reflects the profile of our mountains and opens in similitude of the meandering path of Ayles Creek through the community. John Rolleri and David Seltzer were the master blacksmiths on this stunning entry gate made from burnished copper, black iron and stainless steel.
